As a College, we have taken on the responsibility of creating more sustainable practices. With that, composting has become a vital part of our sustainable efforts. 

All organic waste generated at HSC is processed by Davidson Environmental in a de-packaging system that waste connections use to remove contaminants. The material is then shipped to either Escarpment Renewables in Grimsby or Storm Fischer in London, where it gets converted to Green Energy and Fertilizer. Although we do our best not to contaminate our compost, Davidson Environmental can squeeze out the organic material and dispose of the non-organic fraction.

Lawson Hall has now transitioned all take-out containers to be compostable, as well as all paper towels, napkins and food waste produced is 100 percent compostable. Each classroom across the College also has a compost bin to ensure we are optimizing our composting efforts.
